Volunteering Eligibility
- Age Requirements:
- Volunteers must be 12 years of age or older.
- Volunteers 12-15 years of age require a parental release form and must provide an adult upon each visit.
- Volunteers 16-17 years of age require a parental release and are welcome to volunteer independently.

- Attire:
- We ask that all volunteers wear comfortable and casual clothes suitable for the season. Any graphics on clothing should help maintain a positive atmosphere.
- All volunteers working in the food warehouse are required to wear closed-toed shoes.

Food Department
Our Food Department works to provide supplemental items to increase food security for our neighbors. It takes a large team of volunteers to stock our food warehouse, pack bags, and checkout neighbors, and many other day-to-day tasks. Volunteers may be asked to do a variety of tasks, including:
- Assist with food pick-ups from grocery stores, food drives, and other donors.
- Organize and stock our food warehouse.
- Pack bags and boxes to share with our neighbors.
- Stock shelves of warehouse “store front.”
- Assist in checkout with neighbors.
- Help neighbors transport food to their vehicles on-site.
Clothing Department
Quality clothing is one of the most significant needs to fill for many of our neighbors. Our clothing department aims to provide well maintained, good quality clothing for our neighbor accomplishes this, a dedicated team of volunteers works to sort and evaluate clothing donations, tag them for shelving, stock them appropriately, and help our neighbors through the “shopping” process. Volunteers working in the clothing department have the opportunity to complete a variety of tasks, including:
- Sorting donations and evaluating donations based on quality guidelines.
- Assist in checkout with neighbors.
- Assigning tags to clothes based on size, gender, and age.
- Hanging and shelving clothing in the appropriate locations in our clothing department.
- Assisting neighbors with any questions they might have. [CS2]
Registration Department
One of the most important things done on a normal day at The Caring Place is registering and “checking in” our neighbors into our collaborative database. Maintaining accurate information and data is vitally important to our daily operations in order to make sure that every neighbor receives eligible assistance, and provide the ability to track the impact made through amount of resources provided. monitor and track how many people we’re serving and determine the needs of the community. Volunteers in the Registration Department may work on any of the following tasks:
- Greet neighbors at the door and coordinate traffic to the registrars.
- Ensure neighbors fill out required paperwork.
- Register and “check in” neighbors to the program and work with them to fill in their paperwork.
- Keep neighbors in public spaces of the building.
