What We Do
Our Food Department provides food for our neighbors in need up to twice per month to supplement their nutritional needs. We provide a 17 pound bag of food for every household. We strive to provide a variety of nutrional items as well as a meat item and a dessert when it is available. Families who are 125% of the poverty level or below are eligible for our food program. Individuals are asked to bring photo ID, SS cards for all members of household, proof of address for adults, and verification of income. If the requested documentation presents a barrier, our social worker can develop a plan to address and ensure continued services.
We believe that everyone should have access to the basic resources and opportunities they need to thrive. We believe that basic food assitance is essential in empowering and equiping our neighbors in need to survive and thrive.
How You Can Help
To provide variety and volume in each food bag, however, we rely on donations from generous individuals and organizations in our community. The Caring Place is proud to partner with the Chattanooga Area Food Bank and Feeding America to access food resources at minimal to no cost. However, we provide, on average, 26,000 lbs of food per month and need continual donations of food items to meet the need while providing variety and nutrition for our neighbors who are working hard to meet their most basic needs.
