In 2000 the four larger Churches of God in Bradley County decided to merge their benevolent ministries into one entity and formed Lift and Redemption Ministries. In 2004 with six churches involved the Board of Directors, comprised of the pastors of the participating churches, completed the necessary paperwork for the ministry to become a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. Later that year the pastors each appointed a layperson from their church to replace them on the Board. Lift and Redemption Ministries began doing business as The Caring Place in 2005. Also in 2005 the Board hired Reba A. Terry, LCSW as Executive Director. The organization began to grow as additional churches expressed interest in combining their benevolent efforts with that of The Caring Place. Currently the organization enjoys support from 53 churches (12 different denominations) in Bradley County. Over 130 volunteers and four additional staff members work together to serve our neighbors in need.
